The Location
The EcoYoga Centre at Inverliever Lodge, is hidden away in the Scottish Highlands located in Lochgilphead. The centre is surrounded by beautiful nature including hills, lochs and forestry. It feels totally off-grid due to it’s remote location and lack of wi-fi/service. It is therefore the perfect place to disconnect from the world and instead connect with nature. The EcoYoga centre is big on sustainability and it powered by 100% renewable energy. You can also stay here as part of an organised yoga retreat.
The Space
The EcoYoga Centre has 13 rooms, a wonderful yoga studio and unique outdoor bathing facilities. The outdoor spa is very much about relaxation in every way imaginable, it’s the perfect sanctuary. Throughout the entire retreat you are met with the amazing scents of lemongrass and lavender which enhance the calm nature of the environment. The outdoor facilities include a grass roof sauna, cold plunges in natural wooden tubs and wild river baths. The sauna has a small porthole window which connects you with the amazing surrounding nature. Outside the sauna you will find one of the two cold plunges which are freezing but very good for health benefits.
Inspired by the Japanese tradition ‘Sentō’ the outdoor bathing includes a wooden hot tub in a dome and freshwater hot tubs hidden away in the forest. To lie in one of the tubs listening to the sound of the waterfall is the most relaxing experience you will never forget. The peat in the water also makes your skin so soft and you will leave feeling rejuvenated. We’d recommend taking a robe and sliders with you for wearing in between the experiences.
We really want to express just how practical and perfect the EcoYoga Centre is. Quite often in life something looks great online or sounds good on paper, but in reality just doesn’t quite work. However one thing we can definitely say about the EcoYoga retreat is that it really is as good as you imagine. For example one time we showed up at what we thought was going to be a very quirky and unique stay only to be extremely disappointed with the practicalities. We had booked a bubble tent which we imagined was in the middle of a forrest and secluded. However, when we arrived it was actually right next to a play park full of children and a restaurant with no privacy whatsoever. But that’s one thing you don’t have to worry about at the EcoYoga retreat. You have complete privacy when you are using the outdoor facilities and everything works perfectly. The bath temperature is warm enough to be outdoors and is completely hidden away. It’s truly the most relaxing, magical experience and the team have thought of every last detail to ensure that.
The Sleep
The sleep is fantastic in a kingsized bed with thick and cosy bedding. There is a pillow menu of 4 different types and a little lavender left on the bed to ensure you get the perfect sleep. The dimmer lights in room add to the relaxation vibe and the little sitting area with a view out of the large french doors is the perfect place to read a book. The room has it’s own toilet but the shower is separate and shared with other guests. The retreat even have their own shower gel which is non harmful to the environment and again fills the place with the most beautiful scent.
The food
The centre is self-catering and has a communal cooking area which can be used. It’s a meat free kitchen so please respect this. In the kitchen there are also fresh free range eggs from the hens for you to use. The cooking area is linked to the social area which has a real rustic vibe and is a great place to hangout. It’s amazing to interact with other guests or chill and read one of the many books on display.
