Travel with Scottish Citylink

Travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh with Scottish Citylink is the easiest and most affordable way to get between Scotland’s two largest cities. The Citylink 900 runs 24/7 with a frequency of up to every 12 minutes during peak times and costs £10 for a day return. We love that they offer flexible travel on tickets, allowing you to board another service in the same direction if you’re early for the bus you have booked (subject to seat availability). The modern coaches offer a comfortable, stress-free alternative to driving, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the journey without the worry of where to park when you arrive. And with no driving involved,  you and your partner can enjoy a romantic evening with a wine or two. If you’re not travelling from Glasgow don’t stress, Citylink has frequent services between all of Scotland’s cities. You can check out more info on the Scottish Citylink website.

Stay at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

Our favourite hotel in Edinburgh is Virgin Hotels Edinburgh and it is perfect for a romantic stay. The hotel is a luxurious 5-star hotel, yet somehow with a boutique feel. Located in the beautiful India Buildings on Victoria Street, Edinburgh locations don’t come any better than this. The hotel showcases beautiful Victorian architecture and features with modern design tastefully added throughout, the interiors are truly spectacular. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace with incredible views of Edinburgh Castle.

Where to eat in Edinburgh

For a romantic dinner we highly recommend dining at Sotto Enoteca & Trattoria in Stockbridge. Sotto is wonderful Italian restaurant that also happens to be Michelin recommended. The Cuisine is simple, fresh and very tasty. Sotto is also home to one of the city’s most impressive Italian wine lists, boasting over 200 wines on the menu. The interiors are relaxed yet stylish, feeling authentic with a modern twist.

What to do in Edinburgh

Stroll around the picturesque area of Stockbridge, with its village like charm and cobbled streets packed with independent boutiques, bookshops and artisan shops. We would reccommend stopping at the incredibly popular Lannan Bakery. It is known for its beautifully crafted pastries and long queues… but it is definitely worth the wait!

Ps. when in the are check out the beautiful Circus Lane.

Where to get coffee in Edinburgh

Santu Coffee on Union street location is by far one of the coolest coffee spots in Edinburgh. The roastery is located in one of the best preserved wash houses in the country, featuring original tiling and signage. They have somehow managed to make such a large space feel cosy and inviting, making it the perfect place to sit and chat whilst drinking some of the best coffee in Scotland. Just look at the Latte art below – wow!
