The Isle of Skye in Scotland is the most charming place with surreal landscapes, exciting hikes and places that look straight out a storybook. Therefore we want to share with you the most magical places to visit on the Isle of Skye.
The Fairy Glen is such an enchanting place which will make you feel like you are in a fairytale due to everything appearing miniature. The area has small cone-shaped grassy hills spotted with ponds, rocks and cute sheep. The spot below is called the Fairy Castle of the Glen and you can definitely imagine fairies living there. It really is the sweetest place!
The Fairy Pools of Skye are natural rock pools of crystal clear water appearing emerald green in colour. The water is fed by a number of waterfalls from the Cuillin Mountains which stand as a dramatic back drop to the pools. If you are feeling adventurous let out your inner mermaid and go for a swim in them.
The Storr really is the most otherworldly landscape on the Isle of Skye. It’s mystical atmosphere is down to it’s rugged rock formations which are often revealed by moving clouds and fog during the hike.
Portree is the largest town and the capital of the Isle of Skye. It is home to the beautiful and picturesque Portree Harbour which feels as though you have stumbled on a film set. This harbour was in fact featured in the Hollywood film Maid of Honour for the bride to be’s bachelorette party.
Whilst not technically on the Isle of Skye, anyone visiting the island should visit the stunning Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the bridge. The hauntingly beautiful castle sits proudly on a tidal island where three lochs meet. It’s one of Scotland’s most iconic castles and rightly so!
The Quiraing is a landslip where you can walk a 2 hour loop to take in its magic or if short on time drive to the Quiraing Pass. The road is pretty spectacular with winding roads and mystical scenery. Similar to The Storr it feels like another planet and it’s no wonder many film productions have choose here to film. For example, The BFG, Stardust and Snow White and the Huntsman movies have all filmed scenes here.
The Sligachan Old Bridge arches over a river with many myths and tales. According to Sligachan folklore, if you dip your face in the water at the Old Bridge you will be granted eternal beauty. It’s a beautiful spot to admire the dramatic landscape.
Neist Point Lighthouse is an iconic cliff destination on the Isle of Skye with beautiful views towards the Outer Hebrides.
Finally, the Mealt Falls and Kilt Rock viewpoint showcases a rock formation which is said to resemble a kilt with the beautiful waterfall in the foreground. It definitely has something mystical about it!
