Hong Kong is such a wonderful and exciting city. The region’s blend of both Chinese and British influence has created a unique culture. Therefore we want to share the best things to do and see in Hong Kong.
Firstly, we would recommend riding the tram to Victoria Peak for an incredible view of the Hong Kong skyline. The tram ride itself is an adventure due to the tracks being extremely steep. It feels like a rollercoaster.
This area is so creative and has amazing wall art dotted around random places. Therefore we highly recommend wandering the streets for murals. Their scale and detail are incredible!
The food scene in the Soho district is so diverse with a lot of hip dining concepts. We highly recommend Dragonfly which is a beautiful cocktail lounge. It has the most opulent interior decor and a mesmerising ceiling covered in turquoise stained glass lamps. Another food spot you should add to your list is Burger Circus. Similarly this restaurant has incredible interior. It’s an American diner which is designed to feel like you are sitting in an old American railway car. Don’t miss out on their delicious freshly squeezed lemonade!
Yes you read correct… an affordable Michelin star restaurant awaits you in Hong Kong! Tim Ho Wan, the world’s cheapest Michelin star restaurant serves Dim Sum for around £2 per dish. Dim Sum is the Chinese equivalent to tapas where the food is served in steamer baskets or small plates. On arrival you receive a tick off menu for ordering. Order around 6-8 dishes for two people and we highly recommend the deep fried dumplings filled with pork.
Ride the Ngong Ping 360 cable car to reach Hong Kong’s wonderful Lantau Island. Opt for a glass bottom car on the way up for the most incredible experience where you will feel like you are floating through the air. Once you reach Lantau Island explore the beautifully intricate Po Lin Monastery and enjoy it’s peaceful and calming atmosphere. Next climb the long stairway to the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha). The bronze statue’s 34 metre high height will blow you away!
Finally, we would recommend heading to the Symphony of Lights show at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. Here you can watch Hong Kong’s spectacular skyline light up. The light show happens every night at 8pm where the buildings illuminate in different colours and sequences. It really is beautiful.
