If you are planning a trip to Dallas and are looking for things to see and do, look no further! This post covers what to include on your trip from visiting the JFK assassination museum to exploring the city’s art district.

Visit the historic west end district

The West End historic district of Dallas is home to traditional American red brick buildings, historic sites, traditional stores and Texan eateries. We recommend visiting The Sixth Floor museum at Dealy Plaza. The museum features a series of exhibitions all about the infamous JFK assassination. The museum also occupies the sixth floor of the Dallas County Administration Building showcasing the exact spot his assassin shot from. We don’t want to give too much away but the museum was very interesting and definitely worth the money! Tickets cost $18. When exploring the West End area we highly recommend you eat at Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse. For more food recommendations check out our must-eat spots in Dallas blog.

Enjoy a loop on the free McKinney Trolley

The free McKinney trolley links uptown and downtown and is great loop to suss out the areas. McKinney avenue is home to many cool restaurants and bars such as Bread Winners Cafe and Bakery and Hopdoddy, which we highly recommend stopping at.

Take a day trip to the Fort Worth Stock Yards

You can’t be this close to the iconic Fort Worth Stock Yards and not visit! The historic district has been stuck in time since 1907 and you will feel as though you’ve stumbled onto a western filmset. Plan time to explore the amazing stores and take in all the wild west scenery. Don’t miss the cattle herd which passes through the town twice a day or the word’s largest honky tonk Billy Bob’s.

Eat your way through the food trucks at Klyde Warren Park

Choose lunch from the various colourful food trucks parked up the sidewalk of Klyde Warren Park and enjoy eating outside. There’s a real variety of options including Greek, Italian, BBQ and Asian. However the trucks change daily so check their website for more information.

The Bishop Art District is a hip area in Dallas home to boutique stores and contemporary cuisines. Discover the large and exciting murals that take over everything from the sides of stores to random walls and lanes. It’s so fun to find them at every turn!
