LOCATION
Nestled away in the magical Scottish Highlands, the PilotHouse is located in the remote area of Drimnin. It’s in the same location as the quirky AirShip 002, which if you haven’t already discovered you definitely have to check out! It’s roughly a 4 hour road trip from Glasgow if you take the Corran Ferry or a 5 hour drive without. The tiny home is located on a hill boasting beautiful views across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory. It is the perfect location to relax and get away from everything. Especially the craziness of 2020.
the space
The unique tiny home exterior was inspired by the conning tower of a submarine and the aluminium finish gives off a very futuristic vibe. You will love how a place can feel so cool and innovative yet so cosy and homely. And as cool as the PilotHouse looks from the outside, it is just as special on the inside. The 2 storey tiny home has a kitchen and lounge upstairs with a bedroom, study and shower room downstairs joined by a quirky spiral staircase. The living space on the top floor really is the main event, featuring a balcony with beautiful views across to Tobermory. The quirky wood stove makes the home feel extremely cosy. At night you can enjoy the warm glow of the fire whilst listening to the rain hitting off the roof. This will most definitely be a highlight.
Downstairs the study is perfect for those who are feeling inspired, which trust us you will be. The bathroom is great with a heated towel rail and the fluffiest towels. Overall the interior design is a fun mix between retro and modern, with the aviation theme very apparent throughout. With armchairs inspired by cockpit seats from an F-14 Tomcat to the copious amounts of RAF memorabilia/literature, not forgetting the massive model Biplane hanging from the ceiling. The interior is as fascinating as it is impressive!
THE SLEEP
The bedroom has a beach house feel due to the soft colour scheme and freshly painted wooden panels. It is extremely cosy at night, and due to its position on the ground floor feels secluded and safe from the elements. The queen sized bed and fresh linens ensure the perfect sleep and you will instantly drift off to dreamland with the soft, fluffy pillows. In the morning you can open the curtains and enjoy the beautiful view from the comfort of your bed.
the food
The kitchen area is great and well equipped with a microwave oven/grill combo and worktop stoves. It also includes a dishwasher, kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and all necessary cooking utensils and cutlery. Keep in mind it is essential to bring your own food to cook, there are no restaurants or shops nearby.
