The location

The Radisson Collection Hotel is perfect for anyone looking for a place to stay in Edinburgh Old Town. Picture cobbled streets, eerie closes and medieval buildings. The hotel is ideally situated between both the Grassmarket and the Royal Mile. Most importantly, it sits at the top of the magical Victoria street. The street which served as J.K Rowling’s inspiration behind Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter phenomenon. This charming street is lined with bright colourful shop fronts and quirky eateries. It’s definitely a favourite spot of ours in the city. Also within walking distance from the hotel is the bustling Grassmarket and the iconic Edinburgh Castle.

the space

Step into the inviting hotel lobby and you are immediately met with a vibrant and sophisticated vibe. This, combined with the complimentary Scottish tablet at the door makes the perfect first impression.  The hotel itself is very modern, a stark contrast to it’s outside surroundings. The contemporary interior design is sleek and stylish yet manages to still inject Edinburgh’s character throughout. A huge part of this is down to the wall murals of pen and ink-style drawings of Edinburgh’s streets. This local influence theme is also carried throughout the hotel and into the rooms.

the sleep

The room is extremely comfortable and inviting in every way. The bed is so cosy with a really thick and luxurious quilt. Also, the ceiling to floor curtains do a great job at blocking out any light from the massive windows.

the food

Finally the hotel’s Epicurean Bar serves a delicious afternoon tea. The tea included sandwiches with various fillings, cakes, scones with jam and a tasty soup. A lovely surprise to the afternoon tea is the Scottish twist, a haggis scotch egg. We’d highly recommend it!
