enjoy a balloon ride
We can’t think of anything more romantic than seeing Siem Reap from above at sunrise. You can expect an early start for this experience to see the sunrise. Enjoy the rickshaw ride to the balloon cuddled up as it’s a little chilly first thing. You will see people starting their days in darkness and feel the excitement build. The helium balloon takes you up as the sun is rising with an amazing view of the rural landscape. You can also see the majestic Angkor Wat in the distance.
go quad biking in the countryside
This excursion is one you will never forget. Quad biking through the countryside of Siem Reap during sunset is the most romantic setting. Drive along dirt roads and through rural villages. One of the best parts of the experience is seeing kids race out of their homes to come and wave to you. Our guide told us the children don’t often see people from outside their villages and get very excited whenever they hear the quad bikes coming.
visit the Angkor Archeological sites
Cambodia is most known for the Angkor Archeological sites, the most famous being Angkor Wat. For a magical and romantic experience we cannot recommend enough that you visit for sunrise (even though this is the busiest time). The temple is breathtaking at sunrise with the sky turning different shades of pink and orange. The temple itself is incredibly intricate with every surface covered in ornate carvings. However, Angkor Wat is actually only 1 of many temples. The other famous sites include Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm. The Ta Prohm temple was made famous by Angelina Jolie’s Tomb Raider.
eat at pub street
The lively Pub Street may not be for everyone. However, we found the Temple Food n Beverage restaurant to be a a lovely spot for dinner, especially on the balcony at sunset. Order the Cambodian dish Beef Lok Lak… it will not disappoint!
explore psah chas alley
This hidden lane is in the centre of Siem Reap but so easy to miss. We recommend wandering down here to explore it’s cute stores and pretty cafes.
stay at a luxury resort
Finally, for the ultimate romantic Siem Reap experience we cannot recommend enough staying at the wonderful Sarai Resort and Spa. This Moroccan inspired resort has a beautiful courtyard pool which is the perfect place to relax and drink cocktails. The luxurious rooms feature gorgeous window seats looking onto the pool.
