Earning it’s title of music city, of course there are many things to do in Nashville for country music lovers. From visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame to the iconic Grand Ole Opry, this post will cover the best Nashville has to offer for those of us who just can’t get enough of country music.

VISIT BROADWAY

Firstly, Lower Broadway is the heart and soul of Nashville. It is home to countless famous honky tonks, food joints and western stores. Your choice of cowboy boots is endless from multiple stores. The street also features the iconic the Ernest Tubb Record Shop where you can catch a live music performance. We just loved the fun atmosphere of this street and don’t miss Savannah’s candy kitchen if you have a sweet tooth like us! We tried the pecan pralines and the caramelised chocolate apples which were delicious.

EXPLORE THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME

This museum is a must for country music fans and music lovers. Hours can be spent wandering the 350,000 square foot building. The museum features everything from the Taylor Swift Education Centre to the famous Trans-Am from the film Smokey and the Bandit.

Take a tour of the Grand ole opry

The backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry is like a pilgrimage for country music lovers. The tour includes backstage access to the impressive themed dressing rooms. The ‘Woman of Country’ dressing room features in the first ever episode of the hit TV show ‘Nashville’. Since this first episode, the Opry has featured many times throughout the show’s seasons. The tour also includes the opportunity to stand on the famous wooden circle, centre stage where many legends have stood including Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.

Visit the iconic Ryman auditorium

Considered the ‘mother church’ of country music, the Ryman is the home of the original Opry radio show and today is an iconic music venue. You can take an organised tour of the venue or book tickets for a show.

See a show at the opry

A must do on your Nashville list is a Friday evening at the legendary Grand Ole Opry. To be in the audience of a live radio broadcast listened to by millions across the world is a unique and exciting experience. The show usually features around 6-8 artists which may not be confirmed until a week prior, however this anticipation only adds to the excitement. Also, regardless of wether its Dolly or Brad Paisley performing tickets prices stay the same which is pretty cool!

listen to live COUNTRY music on broadway

Finally, Broadway really is the liveliest street in Nashville. All bars, restaurants and even shops have constant live music, day and night. It’s not called ‘Music City’ for nothing! The atmosphere is amazing and incomparable to anywhere else. We recommend drinking tropical inspired cocktails at Margaritaville and dancing to the live music at Honky Tonk central.
